Next meeting is coming up, but first, if you’re wondering what the 5k Solus project is all about, here’s a brief explanation of the plan -

- 20 interested households each aim to save/raise 5 thousand pounds by Winter Solstice 2011

- interested households put down a hundred pound deposit to show their commitment to the project

- if the target of a hundred thousand pounds is reached, it will be used to purchse land ideally of 100 acres or more, situated in Scotland

- contributing households will proceed to build low-impact homes on the piece of land, challenging any issues raised by the planning department

- the exact details of how this project develops will be discussed in the monthly meetings running up to the target date of Winter Solistice this year

- we currently have (roughly) 20 households on board, but we are looking for more like 40 so that we have a margin for drop-outs

If you don’t have full access to the forum but would like to look at the minutes from the February and March meetings and/or the timetable for the meetings to come, please email Will (address at bottom)

Attending meetings in the months to come will be important for people interested in the project to contribute to the descision-making process. Meetings are also open to people who may not want to commit to this particular project but who are interested in the process of building a low-impact community

Next Meeting Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd April – Ethos & Fears Workshop

The fears workshop, which has been developed by Sara and Chris, will be helpful for people who have apprehensions about starting a community – it will give us all a chance to open up and discuss our worries about the project

Discussing ethos will give us an opportunity to share our ideas about what the community should stand for, what it’s purpose should be and how this relates to our beliefs about what is the best way to live on the planet we inhabit

Please come along with ideas!
